Graeme Sloan is a freelance photojournalist and multimedia producer based outside Washington, DC, covering local news, sports and politics in the nation’s capital. His clients include Bloomberg News, The Washington Post, Sipa USA and Education Week, and his work has been published by The New York Times, CNN and Vogue, among others. Since 2019, Graeme has also been reporting on the growth of the ultimate frisbee community, mostly covering the DC Breeze and documenting the stories of a handful of star local players.
Graeme studied physics and visual communications at American University during undergrad, and later earned a Master’s degree in New Media Photojournalism from The Corcoran School of Arts and Design at George Washington University. His graduate thesis documented protest and political theater in Washington using photography and multimedia techniques. For his undergraduate capstone, Graeme designed an instructional multimedia guidebook to astrophotography, and using specialized methods also created a portfolio of images documenting astronomical objects and events. In 2020, Graeme began working full-time as a freelancer after completing an internship in the Education Week visuals department and working as videographer at George Washington University.
